This afternoon local councillor Gary Malcolm attended the first day of the upgraded playground in Acton Green Common, Southfield.
Cllr Gary Malcolm: parents and children are pleased with the new playground
The money to fund the redevelopment came from monies gained from a developer to mitigate the negatives of the large and growing Chiswick Business Park development. Councillor Gary Malcolm since elected has fought along with local residents in Acton Green to get improved play facilities for children and better lighting.
Liberal Democrats believe that it is crucial for people, especially young people, to have a range of play areas to meet, socialise and have fun exercising. With so many people obese it is vital that councils get behind schemes of this type.
Cllr Gary Malcolm said: "It was wonderful to see so many children having so much fun. Before the renovations much of the play equipment was either rusty or unsafe. Positive comments from the parents flooded in during the opening and since then."
Cllr Malcolm added: "Lib Dems did not find it a difficult choice to spend money on increasing leisure facilities for the children of the area. I must thank the council officers who have worked hard to make sure that the work was done quickly to improve the area."
