The Liberal Democrat share of the poll leapt by 12% in the by-election in Northolt Mandeville on 30 June. This follows a rise of 5% in the earlier by-election in West End ward in May.
The vote for Tony Miller, the Lib Dem candidate, more than doubled from the total at the last Borough election, despite the turnout being lower. Although the Conservatives held the seat, their share was down by 8%, while Labour fell 6%.
"We have continued to build on our advance at the General Election," said Tony, "and this shows that we are in a real three-way fight for the Council elections next May. We are the only party making progress in Ealing."
