Local Councillor Demands Refunds Over Large Number of Wrongly Issued CPZ Tickets
Gary Malcolm, Lib Dem Southfield ward councillor, demanded the Council cancelled parking tickets issued in zone B because of the problems the council caused in issuing CPZ permits.
Each year residents who have to re-apply for their control permit zone. The council sent out a letter reminding residents to fill in the form and pay by a certain date to guarantee they receive their new permit before their current one becomes exempt.
However this time, like last year, residents paid the money and posted the forms in good time but at least 89 people had not received their permits in time. This meant that many residents were ticketed for parking in the CPZ zone B because they were awaiting the new permit from the council.
Cllr Gary Malcolm said: "It is a scandal that the council can run a simple process so poorly. Many residents have suffered badly financially because of the unfair tickets they have received. I think residents should have their parking tickets cancelled, a written apology sent to them and compensation for the inconvenience they have suffered."
