FOCUS team member SImon Rowley tests platform access
More people would use West Ealing Station if it had better facilities, local people have told the Cleveland ward Lib Dem FOCUS team.
There are now two electric trains an hour from West Ealing to Heathrow Airport, but it's no fun getting cases up and down all the stairs at West Ealing. So we've contacted Network Rail to ask for lifts at the station.
The franchise for other trains on the line (Heathrow Connect is run by BAA) ends in March 2006. Stagecoach and National Express, as well as First, the current franchise-holder, are competing to run our local services (and the main line).
Simon Rowley, a member of the local Lib Dem FOCUS team, checked the platform stairs and found the steep steps hard for able-bodied people with luggage, let alone those with disabilities. Better access should clearly be a high priority, he says.
As well as improved access, what do you want from the railway, and the station? Contact us to let us know.
