New Ealing constituency boundaries
All Lib Dem members in Ealing are being consulted about a possible new Ealing Borough party structure.
At the next General Election, new boundaries will come into effect for the Parliamentary constituencies in Ealing.
Ealing Acton & Shepherds Bush constituency will disappear, with all wards in Hammersmith & Fulham going to a new Hammersmith constituency. A new constituency of Ealing Central & Acton (ECA) will be created, taking Ealing Common, Walpole, parts of Hanger Hill and Ealing Broadway wards from Southall and Ealing North.
Local Liberal Democrat parties need to change to reflect the new boundaries by 1st January 2007. Currently each constituency has its own local organisation and that could continue within the new boundaries. It is also possible to join all three Ealing constituencies together, creating an Ealing Borough Party. There are advantages to each arrangement and members will be consulted on the pros and cons of each.
The Executive Committees of the three constituencies are asking for views now, and are holding special meetings in September and October as follows:
EASB: 20th September, 8 pm at 47 Avenue Gardens
North: 21st September, 8 pm at the Drayton Court Hotel, The Avenue, West Ealing
Southall: 3rd October, 8.15 pm at the Drayton Court Hotel.
The final decisions will take place at Special General Meetings on 16 November. We need at least one in five of the membership to be at the meeting to make a binding decision, so it is important you put the date in your diaries now.
