Lib Dem Councillor Gary Malcolm Sets-up Campaign To Stop Fly-posting
Lib Dem Enviro-councillor Gary Malcolm has started a campaign to stop fly-posting from blighting the streets. He was inspired to do this because he spotted two people in Acton putting up illegal posters.
Gary Malcolm carefully wrote down the van registration number from which the two people came from and reported it to the council so action could be taken. In the days after Gary Malcolm reported this, many of the posters in the area were taken down and a 'section 17 notice' was served on the owner of the company vehicle.
Cllr Gary Malcolm said: "I was so annoyed that these two people were making an eye-sore of Acton. I want to see them punished with a fine so they do not do it again. It was a shame as well that I have had to take it into my own hands and start taking down signs that I know are illegal."
Gary added: "I would like to see Ealing Council do more to proactively inspect hotspot areas and get fly-posted signs removed quicker. I urge all residents to contact the council to report them so our streets can be tidier. The number to call is 020-8825-6000."
