Southfield Lib Dem Councillors Gary Malcolm and Harvey Rose at the Literary Festival
Earlier this year Ealing Council's events team pioneered the first Literary Festival, extending their programme of events to Acton Green. Southfield Ward councillors including Harvey Rose and Gary Malcolm were brought into the council's plans to help see local writers and a good range of performances.
The line-up included Richard Briers who opened the festival, Nicholas Parsons who gave a dramatically
exciting talk on Edward Lear, and gardening expert Gay Search. There were two tents where the poetic reading, children's story telling, question & answer sessions, hip hop artists, open mic. Sessions took place.
Five local writers concluded the programme. The festival was supported by the Arts Council of England and by the organisers of the local Bedford Park Festival.
Councillor Harvey Rose said: "It was good to see so many people enjoying themselves, listening to stories and poetry and having a good time. There were events for all the family. Congratulations to the Events Team, and let's put on an even better show next year."
