The case for a proper transport interchange at Ealing Broadway was heard by Caroline Pidgeon, the Liberal Democrat Transport Spokesperson on the London Assembly, when she visited Ealing earlier this week.
At a meeting organised by Councillor Jon Ball, the London Assembly Member heard why a full bus, tube and train interchange was so needed at Ealing Broadway. The meeting was attended by John McNulty, Transport for London's Interchange Programme Director, and a representative of Ealing Passenger Transport Users Group.
Councillor Jon Ball, the Liberal Democrat parliamentary spokesperson for Ealing Central and Acton said:
"For Ealing to have a vibrant and successful centre a proper transport interchange is absolutely vital. With a new station being built as part of Crossrail and with Boris Johnson giving the green light to the Arcadia development it is vital that attention is now given to finding the right solution for Ealing residents."
Commenting further, Caroline Pidgeon said:
"Transport for London have already indicated that a new interchange is necessary for Ealing Broadway if the Arcadia development goes ahead However what is clear is that it must be a fully integrated interchange and proposals need to be far more ambitious than merely moving around existing bus stops!
"It is clearly vital that TfL, Network Rail, Ealing Council and developers work together with the goal of ensuring that moving from bus to train or train to bus is as easy in Ealing as it is at Hammersmith."
