Ealing Southall Lib Dem Nigel Bakhai at Ealing Hospital
Ealing Southall Lib Dem parliamentary candidate Nigel Bakhai has slammed Labour's Virendra Sharma for failing to turn up to an election debate on the future of Ealing Hospital.
The future of Ealing Hospital appears to be in jeopardy after recent revelations that the Accident and Emergency, Maternity and Children's wards are all under threat. A meeting was called at Dormers Wells High School by concerned local residents and candidates from the three main parties were invited to speak. However, the Labour candidate failed to show after accepting the invitation, and the Conservative candidate walked out half way through the meeting after facing criticism on his party's policies.
Nigel Bakhai said: "The Labour candidate failed to speak up in Parliament when the stroke unit was threatened and his failure to attend this meeting clearly proves that he is not the man to defend Ealing Hospital from future closures. This is the number one issue for local residents in our area and he is arrogant enough to believe that he doesn't need to defend his Government's actions because he takes their votes for granted."
