New Southall constituency boundaries
This site has news and information about the Liberal Democrats in the Ealing Southall constituency.
The Ealing Southall constituency includes the five Southall wards of Dormers Wells, Lady Margaret, Norwood Green, Southall Broadway and Southall Green along with Elthorne and Northfields wards which cover parts of Hanwell and West Ealing.
The 2010 General Election were the first to be fought under the current boundaries, and the Lib Dems finished third in Ealing Southall picking up 6,383 votes.
However, Ealing Southall Lib Dem parliamentary candidate Nigel Bakhai was successfully elected as a Councillor in Elthorne ward.

The campaigning and running of the Ealing Southall Liberal Democrats is done through the Executive Committee of the Ealing Borough party. The Executive has three committee places reserved for members of Ealing Southall, who are elected on an annual basis.
Any member is welcome to join the Executive, attend meetings (approximately monthly) or just contact us to ask a question or get involved. We'd love to hear from you!

Attendance figures for the council year 2011-12 once again show that Elthorne Lib Dem Cllr Nigel Bakhai has a 100% record in attending every meeting that he was scheduled to be at.
In all, he attended 32 meetings which is three more meetings in 2011-12 than the previous year when he also had a perfect attendance record. One reason for this increase in the number of meetings is that this year has seen a few extra specially arranged council meetings in August following the riots, and again in May to debate the refuse and recycling problems after the change in council contractor from May Gurney to Enterprise. Furthermore, while Cllr Bakhai served on a crime & community safety scrutiny panel in 2010-11 which met five times, this panel has been disbanded and he is now the Lib Dem representative on the Health and Adult Social Services Standing Scrutiny Panel which meets more frequently.

Mr Mayor, I rise to second the Lib Dem amendment
Rubbish
That's the first word that comes to mind when residents are asked what they think of the council's refuse and recycling collections in recent weeks.

Brian Paddick, Lib Dem London mayoral candidate did a "walk-about" in Ealing Broadway on Saturday 7 April, accompanied by Mike Cox, candidate for Ealing and Hillingdon's London Assembly member.
Supported by a team of local members (see picture), this was part of a whistle-stop tour to listen to voters' concerns. High on the list of points raised by those he spoke to was the continued slow response of the authorities to victims of the riots.
