Brent East MP Sarah Teather celebrates her election victory with Lib Dem leader Charles Kennedy MP and Simon Hughes MP

Ealing Lib Dems celebrate the first anniversary of Sarah Teather's by-election success in Brent East in September 2003.

Sarah Teather stormed to victory in Brent East overturning a Labour majority of 13,000 with a massive swing of 29%. A swing of this proportion would see the Lib Dems win all three seats in Ealing.

More recently, the Lib Dems proved that Brent East was no flash in the pan, defeating Labour again with Parmjit Singh Gill taking Leicester South and narrowly missing out on another spectacular success in Birmingham Hodge Hill on the same day.

As Charles Kennedy said: "We've shown there's no such thing as a no-go area for the Lib Dems".
