Lib Dem Councillor Says Ealing Council Should Quit Whinging and get on to improve things12.00.00am GMT Fri 24th Dec 2004
Ealing Council is still rated "weak" in the third annual report into their ability to provide a good service to residents by the Audit Commission. Many of the categories were static and a few had improved. Some of the important areas that were rated the same as last year were housing, social care for children, education and the benefits service. Because the Social Services Inspectorate (CSCI) last month have Ealing a "no stars" rating this meant they are still rated as weak. This prompted Ealing's Chief Executive to fire a message to staff saying that the council is improving and that they have been treated unfairly. Cllr Gary Malcolm said: "All councils know the rules. Ealing council has been very poor in recent years in many key areas including social services, the environment, libraries and leisure. Lib Dems say that the inefficient Labour council should quit whinging and look to make improvements so residents get a better deal."
