Acton Lib Dems Want A Better South Acton Recreation Ground and Allotments12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Thu 27th Oct 2005
Ealing Council's planning committee has agreed to give outline planning permission for the second phase of the redevelopment of the South Acton estate. This means currently that areas of the South Acton Recreational Ground as well as the allotments look likely to be bulldozed to make way for housing when other options were still available and possible. Andrew Steed, Acton resident and South Acton Lib Dem, said: "The current plans to redevelop the South Acton estate need re-working to protect the Recreational Ground and the allotments." Andrew added: "Because the development is at an outline stage it means that the details of where different buildings are can still be altered. The Acton Liberal Democrats and I will be campaigning to protect the loss of open space so the place can be improved."
