At the Council, Business and Community Partnerships Scrutiny Panel meeting (1st February) the police mentioned that there will be 18 extra police officers to serve transport locations in the borough. These would be used on buses and at train or tube stations.

Cllr Gary Malcolm who uses Acton Mainline station has said the station lighting is not good enough, the staffing in almost zero and the information intercom system is often broken or not answered.

Gary said: "People feel unsafe, especially at night, at Acton Mainline station. I was at the station recently and a lady on the platform told me that at night the place is a death-trap: it is cold and there is no way to escape if there was danger."

Gary added: "Lib Dems want the railway company to spend some of its large profits to staff the station properly and said the police should allocate police to protect the vulnerable at night."
