Ealing Lib Dems Finance Spokesperson Cllr Jon Ball slams Tory budget

Local Lib Dem finance spokesperson, Cllr Jon Ball, has branded the Tory budget "an unimaginative budget; a budget of hidden risks and wasted opportunities." Speaking in the Council's budget debate on 6th March, Cllr Ball attacked cuts in funding to organisations providing luncheon clubs to vulnerable residents, money wasted on a botched recycling consultation producing unclear results and the continuing selling off of public assets such as community centres.

Cllr Ball also criticised the budget for not tackling some of the longstanding problems in the Borough - the overcrowding endemic in council homes, a planning service in crisis and a huge waiting list for disabled residents needing adaptions to continue living normally in their homes.

The Liberal Democrats voted against the Tory budget, which was passed with a majority of just three votes.
