Navnit Dholakia

Today Navnit Dholakia Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrats in the House of Lords, joined local campaigner Nigel Bakhai on the campaign trail in Ealing and Southall.

Lord Navnit Dholakia said:

"Nigel has a long history of standing up for the people of Ealing and Southall.

"Nigel has campaigned for more police on the beat, improvements in the local NHS and fought against the extension of Labour's tram to the area.

"He also joined with me and thousands of other Liberal Democrats in opposing the war in Iraq.

"People here are fed up with being neglected by Labour. They know the Tories offer no real opposition, they came in third in 2005. And they are turning to Nigel to be their voice.

"Nigel is a local champion - that's why I'm backing Bakhai."
