Andrew Steed and Lib Dem councillor Gary Malcolm attended the council-organised Literary Festival in Acton Green today (Saturday) despite the (gothic) weather, which is the second year the festival has taken place.

Attendance at the festival was high given the bad weather including lots of rain.

Fellow Southfield councillor Harvey Rose was instrumental in ensuring that the festival last year was not the first and last time the event took place. Last year there was no cooperation between Ealing and Hounslow council but Cllr Rose ensured this took place by taking action as soon as the last festival was completed to make a second festival a possibility.

There was a risk the festival would not be run this year when Southfield councillors were told in a public meeting earlier in the year that the festival would only go ahead if they found the money themselves.

Lib Dem Andrew Steed, who works in the literary sector, (pictured) said: "The festival was enjoyable and it seems that the council took notice of our comments from last year to make this year possible and a success by improving the level of publicity. I hope lots of visitors and residents enjoyed themselves."
